my friend nfak khan ......u r still makin ur presence felt here...good ..nobodys representing pakistan here...the actors wanna come to india lookin for prototypical ' greener pastures' that s all there s to it ..mush freer country ...do what u want ....and earn loads of money and fame ...they are all on a personal agenda . by default of bein a pakistani they are representing but that s where the buck stops. this guy has made a huge blunder by signing this movie ..he s a B DIRECTOR and sorry to say he d be done before he can say BOLLYWOOD.

ah, if it isn't my old friend ricky. welcome back.

a very asinine comment right off the bat though. lol. 'greener pastures'??? not everyone's adnan sami, rick-meister. maummar was asked by this director to replace sunjay dutt, in a minor role for his movie,(in the spirit of - or under the guise of peace, i guess) and he eventually accepted it. simple as THAT. he went, he acted, and he's back. should he land a more significant role for more cash somewhere down the line, and gain fame in india to boot, its icing on the cake.

but contrary to what you'd like to think, 9/10 pakistani acotrs and actresses are content with where they are currently employed - however pathetic it may be! none of them have crossed the boarder looking for employment, WITHOUT HAVING BEEN ASKED or OFFERED TO DO SO.

i would have to agree with bombay_times.

i agree that maummar should have chosen a bigger role, with bigger names. shaan's a perfect example. while sana, meera, javaid sheikh, and others have jumped on the bollywood bandwaggon, my boy shaan is weighing his options. he's not signing a movie for the sake of being in bollywood. good 4 him! so in that sense, i agree with bombay_times.

HOWEVER, in maummar's defese, he may have signed the movie so quickly, as a sign of respect. he was asked, and he accepted. simple as that.

for me personally, i have no clue who those people are (with the exception of jackie sheroff). but for maummar, he may have signed a minor role with them, 2 get his feet wet - to gain exposure, and then he'll get noticed and sign bigger roles eventually. who knows?!

n/p sal_fan! i didn't know it was 4 an assignment, otherwise i would have replied earlier! lol. hope u do good on it. what class is this 4?! just curious...

lol @ your comment 2 bombay_times. i was wondering the same thing.

bombay_times yaar.....lollywood is based out of lahore pakistan. it has been around for a LONG time, but was given its name within the last 10-20 years (i think). if u think LOLLYwood's a funny name, you must have been rolling on the floor when u heard of BOLLYwood.

anyhow.....lollywood makes urdu and punjabi movies. currently they are on the verge of folding. not 2 many movies r being made in general. 2-3 big ones are expected in the summer, and everyone's pinning their hopes on them.

hope that info helps! i'm here if u need 2 know anything else!

i would take sakic in a heartbeat, but we all know he won't go ANYWHERE, especially if my boy forsberg retires. colorado will do EVERYTHING they can 2 keep him. so he's outta the picture....

kariya.... he should have taken as much $$ as he could have from colorado, cause he won't get jack from anyone this time around as a free agent. not after the lousy season he had. lol. so i would not take him...

friesen....not 2 bad. lets see.

the guy i want at ANY cost is, eric lindros. concussion or no concussion - this guy will bleed for this team! he's unrestricted, and he'll come cheap, so he's the guy i would target!

and then we could trade antropov/kaberle...

the way i see it - films from hollywood, bollywood and lollywood, are all here 4 entertainment. they do not, for the most part, reflect our culture. they stricly entertain and evoke emtions from the audience.

lollywood specifically, doesn't reflect our culture. if anything, it does the complete opposite. it distorts our culture.

the pakistani way of life does not include men/women singing and dancing in a park or a village! it does not include men going around shooting their enemies at will, without punishment. it does not include women walking around half naked, and so on. yet, most lollywood movies depict the above, therefore distorting pakistani culture, in my opinion.

the only aspect of pakistani films that depict a real-life problem, not only for our culture, but others as well, is gender representation. males are more often than not, shown as the main character. other than that, plot line, script, cinematogrophy etc. in lollywood films, do not depict the pakistani way of life.

finally, in comparison to new films, older movies - although they were much more respectable/worthwhile - also simply entertained. rarely if ever, did they reflect pakistani culture. again....they distorted it, if anything.

hope that helps!

hoppo....u raise a VERY good question. where-o-where is salakhein already?! LOL.

ask the 'educated' directors/producers who are behind this film. only they can answer your question. and even then.....u can't trust them. similar 2 u, i also heard salakhein would be released in april, and then in may. and to date.....absolutely no sign of the movie.

UMAIR, u bring up a good point, but thats just it: GOOD lollywood movies will attract people. doesn't matter how much work you put into the movie.....if its not good, people will not watch - and the fact is, not 2 many people watched laaj.

your second points is 100% correct! pakistani's outside of pakistan are MUCH more interested in the pakistani product, NO MATTER HOW BAD IT IS. unlike most retards who live IN pakistan, we are able to be thankful for what we have - no matter how bad it is. we don't always complain. u and i are perfect examples: we'll watch urdu AND punjabi pakistani movies.

and btw u'll notice......my question STILL remains unanswered.

i LOVE her answer of a typical modern pakistani film!

'• A typical modern Pakistani film? "Something like Ladki Punjaban directed by Saeed Noor," they chorus. Why? It is a family drama, no sex, no sleaze. Girl meets boy, falls in love and fights to stay in love.'

i rest my case.

decent point paki lion.

HOWEVER THAT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!!! LAAJ WAS A FLOP NONETHELESS..........!!!!!!!

and i love how 'standard' ignores my question of why these 'educated' producers/director of upcoming 'high quality', 'original' urdu movies such as phela phela pyar and salakhien FALSE ADVERTISE AND LIE. seems to me like they are no different than punjabi producers/directors. even tho they may make a 'family' movie their mentality of lying - a HUGE PROBLEM in lollywood - is the EXACT same.

.......AND GREAT POST YAS DEVIL!!! I'AM AMAZED AFTER STUDYING PEOPLE LIVING IN PAKISTAN AND HOW THEY DON'T APPRECIATE THE TALENT (ex: SHAAN), THAT US FOREIGNERS RESPECT AND APPRECIATE!! US FOREIGNERS DON'T ALWAYS COMPLAIN, AND WE'RE THANKFUL FOR WHAT WE HAVE!!! these people's way of thinking is so 'advanced' as if they're in the year 2050. (severe sarcasm)

there u go again...how many time do i (and other peoples has to tell u) that lollywood industry is actualy nothing, for the past 15 years no new peoples enters the film industry, there were no other choices left then shaan, moammar, saima and reema..and they didn't comes 'far' due to their jobs but because of pure luck...and they way they have choose their roles were not different..all same kind of stereotype roles...so they might be working for years in the film industry but compare wid bollywood and hollywood its nothing.but now coz lollywood is trying to have international standard in film making, it is now very important to choose good roles, work hard, to stay on top, so ur way of praising them high, its really over the limit.and STANDARD is right..punjabi movies sucks..there might be some punjabi moviez wich has become superhit, but none of them has good quality, original story..so nothing special about it..but there is no doubt shaan and moammar are good actors..

and how many times do i have 2 tell you that, whatever the reason may be (luck, talent, favortism etc.) shaan, maummar, saima, reema etc. were, and in some cases still are, A-list stars in lollywood. thats the bottom line. nothing else. shamyl and any other newcomer still has a LONG WAY to go b4 he can even be compared to these people and the 'hits' they have beena part of.

as for punjabi movies not being original...in some cases your point is very tru. but let me ask u: what urdu movie is original these days? and how many of them are REAL hits???

yaar, we need to chat on msn so that we can have a REAL debate!

anyhow.....first u say 99.99% of punjabi movies are vulgar and then u say 100% of them are vulgar! lol. fact of the matter is, none of your assumptions are correct! chooriyan, mendhi wale haath, nooran, nikki jaee haan - these are all examples of punjabi movies will no vulgarity. so where do you get 100%????

what you SHOULD have said was: MOST punjabi movies are vulgar, and THEN you would have been right. cause THAT is a fact: not all, but MOST punjabi movies are vulgar.

laaj was a flop. once AGAIN, it doesn't matter what you or charizmatic or whoever thinks. bottom line is that it was a FLOP. i did not see it, but i CAN read reviews. if you want me to show you articles abt it and its flop status, i will provide them for you.     its common sense: if it (laaj) was so good, then why hasn't IT been labelled as a succesful movie?!

rahi baat salakhien aur phela phela pyar ki: how long does post production take??????????? 2 YEARS???????? if so, then why do these 'EDUCATED' directors and producers keep advertising one release date and then changing it????????? THEY SHOULD MAKE UP THEIR MINDS, IF THEY'RE SO EDUCATED .

shaan will overshadow him in the movie, i think! he has so much more presence on the screen than shamyl. this may be the beginning of the end for his film career. LOL. otherwise if he can hang with shaan....he'll be ok!
